  Can the WTBTS change 1914 and survive?

  the society has changed equally as big doctrines in the past, but could this end the illusion?

  i have read a lot of leolaia posts and have seen the attempt of scholar to counteract however unconvincingly.

  im not after conspiracy, im after fact, could they move the end of the gentile times to 1934/35?

  i'm scared everyday that i will lose my husband to this cult.. i'm scared everyday that i will offend my dear friend because of my bitterness with this cult.. i'm scared everyday that my husband will choose to go back to studying and become active again.. i'm scared everyday that my life will crumble after working so hard to build the wonderful relationship that i have.. i'm scared everyday that his family will eventually say that they cannot associate with him anymore unless he goes back.. i'm scared everyday he'll choose.

  i'm scared everyday that i'll never have a family of my own because of this stupid cult.

  i won't bring innocent lives into this shit.. i'm scared everyday that i'll give up.. i'm scared evertday that he'll be gone.. i'm scared they will convince him.

  Thinking of you and your husband.
  
  As I'm sure you do, keep showing him how much you love him because of who he is - not because you're supposed to according to any rule book. You can't make people change their beliefs, but doing your best day by day will only help him. My/our situation wasn't the same, but I can say that love motivated thorough research and awakening.

  the section on daniel and apocalyptic will be the session i listen to first, as, having learnt about what the authors of the literature in daniel actually meant, it's a topic which interests me.. about the course.

  About the Course

  This course examines the Old Testament (Hebrew Bible) as an expression of the religious life and thought of ancient Israel, and a foundational document of Western civilization. A wide range of methodologies, including source criticism and the historical-critical school, tradition criticism, redaction criticism, and literary and canonical approaches are applied to the study and interpretation of the Bible. Special emphasis is placed on the Bible against the backdrop of its historical and cultural setting in the Ancient Near East.

  About Professor Hayes

  Christine Hayes is the Robert F. and Patricia Ross Weis Professor of Religious Studies in Classical Judaica at Yale. She received her Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley in 1993. A specialist in talmudic-midrashic studies, Hayes offers courses on the literature and history of the biblical and talmudic periods. She is the author of two scholarly books: Between the Babylonian and Palestinian Talmuds, recipient of the 1997 Salo Baron prize for a first book in Jewish thought and literature, and Intermarriage and Conversion from the Bible to the Talmud, a 2003 National Jewish Book Award finalist. She has also authored an undergraduate textbook and several journal articles.

  I've come to realise something since leaving. When you're out, and taking on board information and thinking for yourself, it can be difficult to view things from a JW's point of view, even though you used to be one. At least I find it to be the case. If someone wants, or needs, to believe something enough, they will - however absurd.

  Unfortunately, yes; of course the WTBTS can change 1914 and survive, due to the reasons already stated.

  Oh wow! I've blocked off the 4th to the 6th in my calendar - please put me down as a definite if it's okay. :) This will be my first get-together with other ex/faded Witnesses. I'd be up for staying at a B&B and doing the ghost tour or whatever ends up being decided on. Many thanks for organising this. How will the booking work? Will we all book our own rooms at the same place or will someone group book?
